Meet Frogy! In January we were contacted by the director of sos dubrovnik cats to assist in finding Frogy a new home in the U.K. Her owner was rushing back to see a parent in hospice in Canada and was obliged to re-home most of her large fur family. Having successfully re-homed her other pets she was struggling to find a suitable home for Frogy due to her disability. Frogy has splayed back legs, likely a result of Swimmer Syndrome, a kitten malady which is caught early enough is correctable, leaves the back legs turned out and unable to support the hind end upright. Sadly for Frogy this wasn't the case. She has full mobility and knows no difference. Despite this she is not in pain and moves like lightening!
Sadly, no one in Croatia was interested in looking after a cat like her and she wouldn't survive back on the street. Initially we thought it would prove difficult to find her a home here but that was not the case! Of the 7 cats we brought across in the trip she was the first and easiest to place. All of the cats we transported in the CamperVan Trip, a blog to come, had some sort of disability other. Through some online networking we were put in touch with a wonderful rescue: Pudz Animal Sanctuary in South Killingholme, North Lincolnshire. Shena the owner quickly offered Frogy a forever place. She would be going as a companion to another mobility impaired young cat and they now share their own special enclosed garden. Pudz is home to hundreds of disabled, injured or in palliative care animals. An amazing organization which is a last hope for many of these creatures. It has proved to be an ideal setting for this feisty, loving and adorable cat with all the cat and dog company she had grown up surrounded by. Both myself, sos Dubrovnik cats are ever so grateful to Shena and Pudz for giving sweet Frogy a home. They are truly unique rescue and as with all charities this year are struggling from the loss of fund raising opportunities - please do support them if you are so inclined!
Here's to Frogy living her best life with a large and awesome family around her.
